Validation of assessment

In 2010 the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) was revised to require registered training organisations to systematically validate assessment (including recognition of prior learning). However, the National Quality Council (NQC) recognises that the processes of validation and moderation are not well understood in the VET sector.

New Trainers requirements….which qualification?

Trainers must:

(i) hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education

Training Package; or

(ii) be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies; or

Streamlined Training Packages due in 2012

I was pleased to read an article from Hon John Dawkins AO, Chair NQC about the Training Package reform, which has been spoken about for some time.
A synopsis of his comments are:

Agreement has been reached on a new design model which will see Training Packages ‘streamlined’ down to the essentials.

Collecting and analysing data to find ways to improve your RTO services.

Collecting data and measuring completion rates is very important.

An interesting statistic is appearing across the RTOs I am visiting or reviewing. This is most trainers hate session plans and even refuse to develop them.
